At present,
Mr. Yang and his family are living in North America.
The great Rocky Mountains have granted him new
inspirations to describe the infinite beauty of the
nature, record the affecting moments and express his
realization and enthusiasm to life. Mr. Yang has
opened traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting
classes in Calgary China-Canada Culture Association
Chinese School and Calgary Chinese Culture Society,
and also represents the Canadian Rocky Mountain
Artist Association to hold Chinese Painting Classes
together with Calgary Chinese Traditional Medicine
Association. Mr. Yang actively participates in
cultural activities in local Chinese communities to
diligently promote Chinese culture. He is now
probing the way jointing Chinese culture and western
culture, and inherits the achievements of
predecessors such as Lang Shining, Xu Beihong and
Lin Fengmian, etc.
Mr. Yang
was born in Qingdao, a beautiful coastal city, and
is a hardworking artist. He has started to learn
poem, calligraphy, painting and seal cutting and
research various letterforms since he was a child.
During his middle school years, he visited several
famous masters to learn western painting,
traditional Chinese painting, couplet and poetry and
built a steady foundation on art. His passion for
poetry and painting roots in his great love to the
Chinese culture. The scenes and figures in his
painting works can reflect his cognition and love to
life.
Among his painting works, some are graceful and
restrained, and some are passionate, which both melt
with western realism and reflect freehand brushwork
in traditional Chinese painting. Mr. Yang has formed
his own style through direction of famous masters,
simulation of ancient works and his own diligence.
Mr. Yang is now able to use these skills mixed with
his unique style to create stunning paintings with a
hint of liveliness. A Chinese saying “Dry outside
with lively inside; fantasy buried in simplicity”
can be used to describe his painting style. His
belief is that “a Chinese artist should be versatile
simultaneously on poem, calligraphy, painting and
seal cutting.”
